MARINA: 3D Reconstruction from Images using Formal Projective Geometry
نویسنده
چکیده
This article presents a novel system called MARINA for reconstructing 3D architectural models from 2D images. MARINA relies on Projective Geometry and Grassman-Cayley Algebra to perform the 3D reconstruction in a formal way through geometrical reasoning. MARINA follows a user-centered process, allowing users to draw points and lines over images (photographs, hand sketches or engravings) and specifying geometric constraints such as parallelism or incidence to model the desired objects. The resulting 3D model is then quickly computed, and displayed with textures extracted from the images. MARINA is currently used to reconstruct ancient buildings from engravings. Architects can then quickly place these buildings on virtual 3D cities where they used to be or were meant to be without losing their time on tedious 3D modeling.

3D Reconstruction Based on Epipolar Geometry
In this paper, we propose a new method for 3D reconstruction from three cameras based on the projective geometry. If the subject is just synthesizing images from new viewpoint, 3D shape reconstruction in Euclidean space is not required, and projective reconstruction gives enough information to synthesize new viewpoint images. This means that full calibration is not needed but recovery of epipol...
متن کاملA novel 3D planar object reconstruction from multiple uncalibrated images using the plane-induced homographies
A computer vision method is proposed to determine all the visible 3D planar surfaces in a scene from uncalibrated images and locate them in a single 3D projective space. Most of the existing methods for reconstructing planar objects use point correspondences to estimate the fundamental matrix and derive the compatible projection equations, before they apply the standard triangulation technique ...
متن کاملFiltered Blending: A new, minimal Reconstruction Filter for Ghosting-Free Projective Texturing with Multiple Images
Whenever approximate 3D geometry is projectively texture-mapped from different directions simultaneously, annoyingly visible aliasing artifacts are the result. To prevent such ghosting in projective texturing and image-based rendering, we propose a new GPU-based rendering strategy and a new, viewdependent definition of ghosting. The algorithm is applicable to any kind of image-based rendering m...
متن کاملView Interpolation of Multiple Cameras Based on Projective Geometry
We will show methods for interpolation of viewpoint from multiple cameras based on projective geometry. Projective relationship of multiple cameras can be obtained from weak calibration information, that can easily be corrected from the multiple view images. Such projective geometry provides sufficient information to reconstruct the 3D shape of the object with scale and projective transformatio...

Grouping Uncertain Oriented Projective Geometric Entities with Application to Automatic Building Reconstruction The fully automatic reconstruction of 3d scenes from a set of 2d images has always been a key issue in photogrammetry and computer vision and has not been solved satisfactory so far. Most of the current approaches match features between the images based on radiometric cues followed by...
